Site Description
The site is based on Rotary Kiln technology capable of processing hazardous waste at a rate of arond 1 tonne per hour.
An appplication has been made for R1 status for the site, which would make it the only incinerator with an R1 classifcation which is not an MSW incinerator.
Steam produced by the plant is designed to be used by the adjacent Hitachi Rail facility.
Waste types intended to be processed include Hazardous Clinical Waste (around 70% of input) and packaged hazardous wastes (arond 30% of input)[1].
