Site Description
The site is based on Rotary Kiln technology with anticpated capacity of 20,000 tonnes a year at 26 MJ/kg over 8,000 operating hours.
The kiln wll be designed t operate at between 900 to 1100 degrees celsius, with secondary combustion of gases at 1100 degress celecius for 2 seconds. Power generation via a steam turbine is anticipated to be 1.5MWe, with 0.4MWe used in the plant.
The facility is designed for the receipt and processing of enclosed packaged hazardous and clincial wastes, with bulk aqueous liquids and organic liquids for injection into the kiln.
Suitable wastes will be pre-treated and pumpled to the kiln, including paint, oil, ahesive and resin sludges.
The permit allows for the wider storage, processing, repackaging and physio-chemical treatment, in aggregate, of up to 67,000 tonnes a year of all wastes specified.
